Going Public

Melissa's birthday was March 8th, and we had a great party for her. She didn't think I could pull it together on short notice, but 35 People showed up, and we had to scramble to find a restaurant that could seat us all on a Saturday night.

After everyone had eaten, and all the other gifts had been opened, I presented Melissa with a manila envelope reading "To Mel, From Bill the Pony and Friends". Inside was a printout of the Project Fiver website, and the 844 names we had on the petition. She was moved to tears, and I can't thank all of you enough for helping with this. She was absolutely floored by the outpouring of support that you all have shown.

The initial shock of it has worn off, and Melissa has finally accepted that she is indeed the benefactor of such a project. It has given her a new spark, and it excites her to visit the site and see how quickly the petition grows.

No more quietly posting to boards under vague titles or friend-locked posts, it's time to blow Project Fiver wide open! Sometime today we're going to pass 1000 signatures, and truly become a movement on the internet. So go out there and shout it down the tubes of the IntraWebs, and I know we can make this happen. I'm preparing some more letters to send tonight that will hopefully make a difference.

Again, Thank you for all of your help so far. You helped make this idea into something closer to reality.
